Bolan News

The ladies of Trinity UMW spent some time after worship services checking over the items brought in for the school kits for the Thanksgiving Ingathering, which comes up on November 2.  They also talked about the upcoming Bazaar and Luncheon that will be a part of the 17th Annual Bolan Fall Event on Saturday, September 21.  With the UMW meeting coming up on Wednesday they decided to continue discussion and planning during that time.
There will be many things happening at the Fall Event.  As in previous years there will be the Bolan Schoolhouse & Cultural Center’s Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, a bicycle ride, music by Sam Crosser of Osage and the Bolan Community serving homemade pie with ice cream.  This year will have a “White Family Theme” as we have invited the extended families of Jessine Kristina Rasmussen White (known as Sina and Gma White) to gather in Bolan for a reunion.  A little background on Gma White ---- she was born on February 17, 1874, in Vandrup, Denmark, and emigrated to the U.S. with her older sister, Christina in 1890.  She married John Peter White on April 2, 1900, in Albert Lea, Minnesota.  They had seven children, all of whom married and lived in the Worth County area.  John died in 1942 and Sina’s children and grandchildren made an effort to help her to be able to move into a house in Bolan.  Next week check out the “Bolan News” for the continuation of this story!  Plus, what else is on the agenda.
