Christmas kicks off in Northwood on Sat. Dec. 4

Downtown Northwood kicks off the holidays on Saturday, December 4, with a variety of events and activities.
Dewey Kruger Music will be celebrating 40 years in business with an open house from 10 a.m. until noon.
Chapter ES P.E.O. of Northwood will host its annual cookie and bake sale from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Olson Community Room, next to the Northwood Public Library. Cookies will be available to pick up for $8 a dozen. Curbside delivery will be provided.
At 3:15 p.m. the movie “The Star” will be shown for free at the Northwood Theatre.
At 5 p.m., the Northwood Community Center will offer hot chocolate and hot dogs.
At 5:30 p.m., by Santa’s Village in Central Park, children will be invited to hunt for candy canes.
The annual lighted parade down Central Avenue begins at 6 p.m. with local individuals, groups and businesses lighting the route with their entries.
Following the parade Santa Claus will pay a visit to the shelter house in Swensrud Park.
Chili and cookies will be available in the park with a free will donation.
Shaka Shaved Ice will offer hot chocolate.
There will also be a bonfire, carolers and the trees, gazebos and bridges will be lit for the season.
