Incumbents re-elected in contested county races

Voters on Tuesday cast votes to fill election offices in county, state and federal government.

Appearing on ballots for county offices were Republican incumbent Mark Smeby and Democrat Rick Scholbrock for supervisor from District 2; Republican incumbent Jacki Backhaus and Democrat Mike Bode for Worth County auditor; and Republican Jesse Luther for Worth County Sheriff.
Following are the results of votes in Worth County:
Supervisor District 2 voters chose Smeby to be their supervisor, with 844 votes, or 57.69% of the vote. Scholbrock received 605 votes, for 41.35%.
Worth County voters chose Backhaus as auditor, with 2,330 votes, or 55.77%. Bode received 1,839 votes, for 44.02%.
Worth County voters chose Luther as sheriff, with 3,881 votes.
Appearing on ballots for state offices were Republican Doug Campbell and Democrat Richard Lorence for Senator for District 30.
In Worth County, voters chose Campbell, with 2,849 votes. Lorence received 1,277 votes.
Incumbent Republican Jane Bloomingdale, Northwood, appeared on ballots unopposed for Representative for District 60.
In Worth County, Bloomingdale received 3,572 votes.
Federal offices on ballots included President and Vice President, with main party candidates including Republicans Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance; Democrats Kamala D. Harris and Tim Walz.
Worth County voters chose Trump/Vance with 2,714 votes, for 63.32%. Harris/Walz received 1,508 Worth County votes, for 35.18%.
Appearing on ballots for United States Representative for Iowa’s District 2 were incumbent Republican Ashley Hinson, Democrat Sarah Corkery and Jody Madlom Puffett.
Worth County voters chose Hinson, with 2,800 votes, for 67.93%. Corkery received 1,213 votes, for 29.43%. Puffet received 102 votes, for 2.47%.
