Northwood Public Library News July 22, 2020

Effective immediately, the library will begin phase 3 of our reopening plan. We will now be open to the public (with restrictions) on Mondays and Fridays from 1-5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-6 p.m. We will offer curbside pickup during all open hours. If you are uncomfortable entering the library please call, email or Facebook message us. We are happy to check out and run your items to your car at your designated pick-up time.
Our current restrictions during our open hours are as follows: If you have a fever or feel sick do not visit the library. Computers are now available for use by appointment only. Call 641-324-1340 or email northwoodlibrary@mchsi.com to reserve a 30 minute time slot as only one computer is available for use at a time. A 30 minute time limit will be enforced. Users must first sanitize hands and also wear a mask when using the computer.
The restrooms, reading room and kids’ play area/maker space are closed to the public. Masks are still encouraged but not required. Please use hand sanitizer upon entry to the library and practice social distancing by maintaining six feet distance from others. There is a  maximum of 10 people in the library at a time and a limit of 30 minutes per visit. All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. All returns must be placed in the drop box. Do not set returned items on the circulation desk. (All returns are set aside for one week to allow for decontamination.) We continue to frequently disinfect commonly touched surfaces.
This summer our summer reading program has challenged us to really think outside the box. We have been encouraging kids to read 1,000 minutes! We have many kids who have hit the halfway mark and are getting closer to their goal! We are so thankful to our sponsors who support us and allow us to provide to-go craft kits, prizes and more books for our kids. We can’t thank you enough! Many thanks to Northwood Dental, A&I Auto, Kenison Construction, Quality Composites, Dewey Krueger Music, Butler Construction, Inject Technology, I-35 Welcome Center, Shade Tree Liquors and Rock-A-Billies. Donations given by NSB, FSB and Worth & Olson Insurance will be saved for programming for next summer. Hopefully we can get back to our in person programs next summer!
Check Facebook for our most recent additions to our DVD and book collections. Also, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Call us at 641-324-1340, email us at northwoodlibrary@mchsi.com or send us a message on Facebook! We hope you are all staying safe and healthy!
