Class of 1963
The Class of 1963 held their 60th reunion at Signatures on Saturday, September 16. Following the luncheon, their classmate, Merle Hanson, gave them a tour of Art Farm Iowa and they visited the Worth County Historical Society Museum to see the military uniforms and childhood toys and scouting items donated by their classmate, Teddy Bassett. They were able to visit the Museum courtesy of Amanda Girouard. Her father, Mike Rohne, who passed away in January 2022, was in their class. Pictured are 1963 classmates, including (seated, from left) Sharon Bartz Anderson, Janell Low Holstad, Mary Hanson Honsey, Phyllis Mueller Rominski, (second row) Janet Tue Hermanson, Joyce Black Bassett, Gary Hengesteg, Susanne Dahle Prindle, Laurel Brunsvold Erickson, Paul Ferley, (third row) Allen Anderson, Michael Schachterle, Teddy Bassett, Merle Hanson, Bonnie Broitzman, Keith Helgeland and Sandra Thoen.
Fire Safety Week at N-K
Last week was National Fire Safety Week. The Northwood Volunteer Fire Company celebrated by visiting Northwood-Kensett Elementary classrooms, and inviting students to their home. Members of the NVFC visited with preschoolers and students in grades 1-2 in their classrooms. They showed them some of the equipment and clothing they wear to fight fires. They also taught them about smoke detectors, staying safe during fires, having meeting spots and other fire safety tips. Students in the kindergarten class got a chance to board some NVFC vehicles and ride to the NVFC station for a tour and to learn more about the vehicles and equipment there. See more picturs on page 3.
JoAnn and Annie visit LRH
Northwood storyteller JoAnn Lower paid her monthly visit to the Lutheran Retirement Home recently to share a story with residents. Lower also brought a special guest with her, Annie the Duck. The residents always appreciate visits from JoAnn and her occasional animal friends. But for new LRH administrator Scott Kessler (left), the chance to hear a story and meet a feathered friend were a unique experience in his more than 25 years working in long term care.
