Davidson finishes third at Mercy, Tiedeman places 29th

The Northwood-Kensett cross country team got its season underway last Tuesday afternoon with a meet at Mercy Medical Center hosted by Mason City Newman.
Short of the post season meets, this is one of the largest all year and the Vikings were well represented.
When you talk about N-K cross country the first name that naturally comes to mind is that of Lindsey Davidson, its state CC qualifier from a year ago. Davidson placed third in her first meet this season with a time of 21:44.9, just a couple of minutes behind Iowa Falls-Alden’s Ellie Meyer, who took home the first-place medal with a time of 19:30.6.
On the boys side Carson Ryg of Lake Mills took home top honors with a time of 17:08.4 with N-K’s top males placing 29th, 60th and 78th. Drake Tiedeman placed 29th with a time of 19:20.8 in the first CC meet of his high school career after opting for a less physical sport than football to keep in shape for his true passion, wrestling.
Rounding out N-K’s male finishers, Makaio Hoch placed 60th with a time of 21:01.8 and Hayden Moore finished in 22:21.2, good for 78th.
The N-K CC team had one meet this week, Tuesday afternoon at Belmond-Klemme.
