Drier makes fire
Prior to the recent rain and snowfall, dry conditions persisisted in the areas, to the point that fire hazards were put in place. The warnings proved to be warranted several times last week, as Worth County fire departments made trips to fight fires that had popped up or spun out of control. Pictured here are Northwood Volunteer Fire Company firefighters on the scene west of the casino.
Down the road
Road construction has been underway in and around Northwood in recent weeks. The Iowa DOT has commissioned a resurfacing of Highway 65, north of Central Avenue, as well as a replacement of portions of the sidewalks along the highway throughout the city. Pictured above is some of the early work to remove the edges of the highway. Since then the areas have been replaced and the top surface of the road has been removed. The project is expected to largely be completed by the end of May, according to City officials.
Down to business
The Northwood-Kensett business department recently made its annual trip to the Target Center in Minneapolis, where they saw a Timberwolves game. The field trip was the culmination of time in the classroom, where they studied things like retail markups, player salaries, revenue streams and other parts of the basketball business.
