Chloe’s Critters
Chloe Bauler, owner of Chloe’s Critters, visited the Northwood Public Library on July 10 in the Olson Room. She shared her tarantulas, Madagascar hissing cockroach, corn snakes and more. The left photo shows a young tarantula along with some shedded skin the kids could feel. Below is Chloe feeding her bearded dragon a beetle and a corn snake. The children learned how a caterpillar morphs into a butterfly and what snake skin feels like.
‘The sweetest way to beat the heat’
Kaelix Iverson and Bauer Akemann set up a lemonade stand last week with the temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s, to quench the thirst of passersby. The cousins enjoyed spending time together and hoped to raise money towards favorite activities. Kaelix is the son of Josh and Alyssa Iverson, and is raising money towards wrestling. Bauer is the son of Trent and Shelby Akemann, and is raising money towards football and the state fair.
Repairing the city ponds
Work has been underway in recent weeks on downtown streets in Northwood. Some of that was done with the intention of improving drainage at downtown corners. Pictured above is the southwest corner of Central Avenue and Eighth Street/Highway 65. The area has been a long time place where water collects after rain falls. The crew from Springer Construction removed the street surface at the corner and replaced it to improve the flow to the nearby storm drains.
