What a day for a day camp
First Lutheran Church in Northwood played host to a week of summer fun and activities. The young campers were led by older youth in their activities throughout the week, including arts and crafts, outdoor events and even a visit to the swimming pool. It was one of the largest crowds of kids in youth director Mark Willand’s memory, with nearly or more than 100 kids at the church on several thorughout the week.
That time to refurbish the paint
The second story of the building that houses Bloomingdale Tax and Accounting in downtown Northwood received some prep work last week with some potential touch ups on the way.
N-K golfers place seventh
Drew Wilder and Emma Davidson of Northwood golfed in the Iowa High School Coed Meet on Tuesday June 8. They placed seventh amongst 38 teams.
NVFC BBQ
It was a busy evening for the members and supporters of the Northwood Volunteer Fire Company with their barbecue on Saturday. The second annual drive through barbecue is a three-day bonding activity, according to member Mitch Hanson, who said that they start cooking on Friday, prepare and serve on Saturday and clean up and celebrate their efforts on Sunday. This year the NVFC served over 1,200 meals with the assistance of friends and family.
Trucks overturns in ditch
This truck was traveling on Lilac Avenue west of Kensett last week when the trailer left the road and dragged the rest into the ditch. The vehicle remained there until two tow trucks arrived and were able to remove the vehicle from the ditch. The driver left the vehicle with no apparent injuries and the contents of the trailer appeared to remain intact. The accident occurred the farm of Linda Medlang, who shared this picture with the Anchor.
