Raising the flags
With Memorial Day on the way, several people worked to make sure Northwood’s Sunset Rest Cemetery was appropriately patriotic and that the veteerans laid to rest in the cemetery were honored. That includes this trio of members of the local Our Buddies Memorial VFW Post 6779, who spent a morning last week placing flag along the paths of the cemetnery. Others volunteered to place flags at the graves of veterans throughout the cemetery.
Serving the community
Members of Northwood-Kensett’s eighth grade ag classes recently spent some time taking part in a community service project. They lent their efforts to tidying up at the Worth County Fairgrounds. The students are pictured above with teacher Marty Cotter and Worth County Extension Education Specialist Dennis Johnson.

A growing education
Northwood-Kensett sixth grade students traveled to the Worth County Fairgrounds recently to get a firsthand lesson in gardening. The students learned from local master gardeners and ISU Extension and Outreach experts and students as they planted at the 4-H shaped garden. Each student was given a portion of the garden in which they could select from a variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers to plant. The progress of the project will be on display during the Worth County Fair June 16- 20.
