They’ll leave the lights on for you
Lighting at the Worth County Courthouse was recently refreshed with new and additional exterior lighting fixtures. The result is a much brighter look at the courthouse in the evening. While the change makes looking at the courthouse a more illuminating experience, it also brings light to the entire exterior of the building, addressing a potential security concern that had been in place before the new lights were added.
Wall of fame
Over the course of the school year, two increasingly large spaces on the walls at the elementary and secondary buildings have been dedicated to sharing the recognitions and appearances of Northwood-Kensett students and staff in the Northwood Anchor. The pictures are posted in areas noting that they have been made “famous in a small town.”
Feeling flushed
Last week, Northwood went through the annual fall process of flushing hydrants throughout the city. Cities flush hydrants to make sure there is adequate flow, and to remove any sediments settling in pipes, which can build and impact flow. This helps ensure water quality and pressure once a year.
N-K first graders identifying leaves
Last week, Northwood-Kensett first grade students spent time in front of the elementary building with Worth County naturalist Dakota Popp. They gathered some of the leaves near the building. They then used papers with pictures of leaves to identify which types of trees the leaves came from.
